fresh, genre bending interpretations from barac (romania) and dbridge (uk). these two inspiring producers provide their modern touch to the contemporary dancefloor continuum: dbridge offers an up-to-date hybrid that straddles the line between techno and breakbeat, while baracs extended mix is a deep and hypnotic journey through space. dbridge represents a milestone when it comes to uk dance music. being part of the legendary drum and bass group bad company in the late 90s, running his extensive label exit records, and regularly releasing on boddikas nonplus, metalheadz, as well as r&s, he has gained an enviable reputation as a specialist with a modern take on techno and breakbeat variations.

technosoul .03 comes from blazej malinowski, who has previously released on swedish phorma and canadian silent season amongst others. “mika” and “open closed open” might serve as blazej s sound signature – deeply rooted, hypnotic techno with a trance edge, which works both on the dancefloor and in comfort of one s home. remix number one comes from the legendary british dj and producer steve bicknell, whose take on “mika” is raw and very dense at once – it serves as the most brutal piece of music on the release. remix number two comes from “the mad ukrainian” stanislav tolkachev, whose vision strikes as a real surprise. instead of his usual beats stampede, he has provided the record with a beautiful, ethereal offbeat techno: this won t probably work as a peak time monster, but with a proper audience, it will have a mesmerizing effect!

austrian shooting star project niereich was founded in 2010. as dj/live act, producer and label co-owner of audio stimulation recordings he serves as a true multi-purpose weapon. while playing at the biggest in- and outdoor events and his releases being supported by the biggest dj s across the globe, he undoubtedly set his mark on the international dance scene. niereich is known to be rocking as there s no tomorrow. this urban format ep is packed with techno bliss and consists of 3 strong, dark and deep tracks.

taking a brief detour from his normal abrasive distorted sound, pinion showcases his broad spectrum as an artist with the desire ep. the title track, desire (half measure),starts out of the gate with a thunderous half beat 808 coupled with a swinging hihat pattern that slowly works ethereal vocal slices into the forefront, accompanied with a modulating synth pad that evolves into a defining melody. the sister track, desire (full measure), has very similar characteristics as the original, but allowing a little more edge for the dancefloor to build on. the third original track, recollection shifts gears quite drastically with a 135 bpm stormer with enough soul and melody to make the uncharacteristically fast tempo seem inconsequential. last, comes kyle geiger on remix duties to round out the ep with a housier take on desire, but still enough bite to fit nicely into any techno set.

spanish dj & producer, eduardo de la calle, has continued to explore the outer limits of the electronic palette since his cadenza records debut back in 2013, clocking up stellar releases for the likes of mule musiq, hivern discs, be as one and nonplus over the last couple of years. eduardo returns to cadenza in february with the ‘anima animus’ single, coupling two tracks of refined techno for your listening pleasure. taking inspiration from the psychologist/philosopher carl jung’s concept of anima and animus (and do take the time to explore this), eduardo marries arpeggiated synths and melodic chords with a soft kick and tantalizing hats, producing a slick piece of reflective techno that’s alive with melody and groove. on ‘north pole’, we get more of the signature ‘de la calle’ sound, subaquatic bass and searing, melancholic strings play out over a steady mechanical beat, nodding its head not only to the detroit masters but also to the european new wave sounds that influenced the motor city artists in the first instance. another assured single release from eduardo that will further solidify his place in the current electronic music landscape.
